History is an exciting subject at Wick and Marcross Church in Wales Primary School. Educational visits often involve trips to Roman hill forts, Celtic villages, churches, museums, castles and even Victorian schools.

The children are encouraged to use their imagination and travel back in time to explore what life was like in the past. Artefacts, interviews with older generations, pictures, videos, DVD's, C.D recordings, songs, posters and stories are all examples of the range of resources used. By learning about how different  people used to live we can better understand how people live today.

The history and culture of Wales are explored in detail so that we can gain a real appreciation of our country's rich cultural heritage and traditions. Our local area also recieves special attention and the children are able to compare the changes that have taken place. We are aware that the word history comes from the two words 'his' and 'story'. This reminds us to question the evidence presented and sort out opinion from fact.
