Aims
* Develop a good command of technological knowledge and understanding and competent designing and making skills
* Receive support and encouragement to observe health and safety procedures and routines
* Demonstrate good quality visual, technical and constructional work
Receive clear exposition of a design process and opportunities to develop original design ideas;
Recieve effective instruction in practical skills
*Use a range of resources competently;
*Develop their planning and time management skills
*Use the application of knowledge of aesthetic, cultural, economic, environmental, moral, social and technical influences to inform designing
* Access a curriculum which avoids stereotypical gender images or language
*Use local industry and the community to enhance the range and relevance of experiences included in the curriculum.
Children will have opportunities to;
*Apply knowledge, skills and understanding related to D.T.
*Apply appropriate key skills
* Succeed in producing original designs and making good quality products from an appropriate range of materials and components which meet a clear need and fitness for purpose;
*Test products against the initial design specification;
*Carry out necessary modifications;
*Evaluate their work throughout the process;
*Use appropriate technological vocabulary and variety of techniques to communicate clearly the various stages of designing and making;
* Use a good range of ICT skills for communicating, data handling, modelling, controlling and manufacturing;
*Apply appropriate health and safety measures when using equipment, tools and materials;
*Understand the place of design and technology in meeting the need of society.
