Dydd Gwyl Dewi

Wick and Marcross became a sea of red, white and green on February 29th as the school celebrated St Davids Day with an eisteddfod.

All the children were encouraged to dress in traditional Welsh costume or clothes with a Welsh theme.

The children took part in a range of competitions throughout the day, including traditional Welsh dancing, choral speaking, choir and individual instrumentalists. We listened to individuals play on recorder, piano, guitars, drums and clarinets.

The day culminated with a ceremony to chair the bard. Congratulations to Rhys Bugler  who won the competition this year. His poem about Wales had to confirm to the strict syllable count of a Haiku.

The staff were dressed to impress!!

Mrs Nawrocki, Mrs Smith, Miss Hoggarth and Mrs Morgan wore traditional Welsh costume.

Each child entered a range of competitions including  art and craft activities. All the results were announced during the day.
